The Perfect Storm headed towards eCommerce

In the EU and UK, collecting VAT on electronic services becomes mandatory in 2015. Now for virtually every order a merchant takes, you will need to know if the buyer is resident in the EU, and if they are, you will have to know which country they are in and calculate the VAT and new price accordingly. It’s a pretty rigorous standard, and Commerce Guy’s General Manager for Europe, Kieron Sambrook-Smith has some insight into tackling the necessary changes.

The U.S. House is poised to pass the Marketplace Fairness Act, effectively ending the perceived “Tax Holiday” for online-only merchants. Jonathan Barsade, CEO of Exactor, recently gave a talk on how the act will affect merchants. We’ve got a recording of the session for you to take action for this big change for merchants selling in the U.S.
