Published by Capgemini: Social Commerce - Commerce Guys and Capgemini sign a partnership

The two companies announced the joint recruitment of 50 dedicated Drupal Commerce consultants to support a high growth market

Paris la Defense, June 18, 2012 -

On May 2, Capgemini, a leading global provider of IT consulting and outsourcing services, signed, via its French subsidiary, a business and technology partnership with the France and US based Commerce Guys, the creators of Drupal Commerce, an open-source eCommerce solution already used by over 15,000 websites.

Together, Capgemini and Commerce Guys will offer their customers all the services necessary for the implementation of digital commerce platforms: advice, expertise, production, hosting and payment systems. In order to meet the growing demand for skills around the Drupal Commerce solution, under this agreement, the two companies announced the joint recruitment of 50 technology consultants in 2012. Commerce Guys will provide training for their solution and Capgemini will provide training on mastering major projects in Drupal and Drupal Commerce.

This method of recruitment is part of a true integration process: each new recruit will be offered a three-week training on Drupal technology and on methods & best practices for development, as well as engage with the Open Source community on current issues in eCommerce. Furthermore, once selected, the candidate may choose the company that they wish to continue with: Capgemini or Commerce Guys, depending on their preference and career goals.

The eCommerce market has been experiencing double digit growth for several years. According to the Fevad, sales on the Internet in 2011 totaled 37.7 billion euros, up 22% year over year. According to Frederic Plais, CEO and cofounder of Commerce Guys, "The creation of this alliance with Capgemini is an important step in the development of Commerce Guys and the growth of Drupal Commerce. Along with the joint recruitment of 50 engineers for Drupal Commerce, the partnership will significantly accelerate the number of engineers trained on the technology and better meet the explosive demand for qualified resources on Open Source technologies in general and Drupal in particular."

Denis Lafont-Trevisan, head of the Centre for Digital Excellence at Capgemini France, meanwhile said that "in this era of connected commerce, from mobile social commerce to digitization of customer relations, we must bring to market technologies adapted to handle these trends. Drupal Commerce is a growing solution, with agility equal to the Drupal CMS, which we have used since our first projects in 2007. With Drupal Commerce as an open and scalable solution, we have the ability to combine digital content and commerce, which is of great benefit to our customers."
